Reach out for help
This is an important one. Historically, I've always left it too late to seek help - I'm already at the bottom of the pit in the depths of depression, but if I seek help while I'm still in my anxiety phase my recovery is so much easier and quicker.
There are many ways to reach out for help. I will always go to see my GP, but I may sit down with a loved one or trusted friend, I may go to see a therapist or I might talk to someone who I know has been through this themselves.
This is so necessary for me. Often, just the act of talking about what I'm feeling makes me feel so much better. It's like a pressure valve is released. It can feel like a difficult thing to do, it can feel like a massive hurdle to jump, but I've also learnt that I can't do everything by myself and that sometimes I need help.
If you need help but you're not sure where to start, contact your GP.
If you're struggling with a mental health crisis right now, please contact the Samaritans.
