Eat: Yogurt, summer fruits and oats breakfast bowl
This is one of my favourite breakfasts and it's super quick and easy. I know how important it is to eat a good breakfast but I sometimes find that tricky to fit in with everything else that comes with life so I've built up a list of easy breakfasts that are delicious, good for me but super quick to put together.
Recipe: Yogurt, summer fruits and oats breakfast bowl
150g of full fat greek yogurt
3 heaped dessert spoons of rolled oats
1 heaped dessert spoon of raspberries
1 heaped dessert spoon of blueberries
1 heaped dessert spoon of chopped strawberries
1 teaspoon of honey
I use entirely organic ingredients for this breakfast as they are readily available at the supermarket and I prefer to use organic where I can.
And this is why it's so easy. You take the yogurt out of the fridge and put it in a bowl, add the toppings using the same dessert spoon to measure everything, and eat. Done. And it tastes great.
One of the key things about this breakfast bowl is the full fat yogurt. I've tried this with low fat or fat free yogurts and, for me, they just don't keep me as satiated for as long as the full fat version does. I also much prefer the taste. If you prefer to use a low fat or fat free yogurt please do make sure that it doesn't have added sweeteners or sugars.
With this breakfast bowl, I love that the fruit and honey gives me a quick pick-me-up first thing in the morning, which I always feel like I need, but the oats are low GI so they release their energy over time and the protein from the yogurt keeps me feeling fuller.
Finally, when I was training for the triathlon and I was doing two training sessions a day, I was adding more protein to my diet to help muscle recovery so I would add a dessert spoon of ground almonds to this bowl too.
